Dear Jonathan, Everyone else keeps getting postrcards so I thought it was about time you got one too. Since you are 'elsewhere' this is the best I can do. Oz Is amazing. You would love it here. Though perhaps you would not love all the art galleries I insist on visiting, sometimes more than once. You would definitely love all the sunshine, especially as I am actually going out in it and have managed to get some colour for once. You would have loved the snow and I am sorry I didn't go out in it; I was too busy getting drunk with my friends, I am sure you understand. I am now on the move again and back in a city. Melbourne and Sydney ARE very different but I love them both in different ways. I am looking forward to my trips through the desert and going to stay with your family in Perth next month. First of all sorry for not having the guts to show my face here, but it has taken me this long to build up the courage. You were and always will remain a huge part of my life Johan, and will never forget a single day, other than the ones we had in stallies and ploosh, that I knew you from the day we first met not long after I arrived at hunter high. An interesting one. Bet you didn't know Josh knocked me out of a poker competiton with some 50 competitors. Top 5 won money (15 quid for 5th and £150 for the winner) and without a second though to his good friend Del Boy, he stole all my bloody chips. I finished 6th!!!!!!

I remember dancing salsa in the kitchen. I remember hugging you because I couldn't believe you were mine. I remember groaning at the 3am phone calls but loving that you cared. I remember sitting in your arms, knowing I was home. I remember you lying in the sun and me hiding in the shade. I remember cocktails and shooters. Laughing and crying, sometimes at the same time. Dancing and falling, in so many ways. I remember driving in the car, sorting out our life. I remember the looks you used to give me, how they spoke a thousand words. I remember the games we used to play, the games you used to play. I'm starting to remember all the little things we did that made you and me, us. I remember the way you'd kiss my head and stroke my hair. I remember the way I'd hold you close an inhale the smell of your favourite aftershave. Lying in your arms with my head on your shoulder, my hair getting in the way and caught on your earing. I remember you loved my hair and hated it when I cut it. I remember drinking JD & coke more nights than I can count. Eating victors pizza and chips at 3am. I remember you holding me when I couldn't sleep. I remember holding you when you grieved. I remember your cheesy grin, the one that let you get away with more than you should have. I remember letting each other go knowing we'd be together again soon. I remember missing class, to put off saying goodbye. I remember saying I love you the first time, as well as I remember the last and I remember all the different ways you said "I love you" in between. I remember that I said I'd never let you go, I remember that you said the same to me. I remember.

My Jonathan: the love of my life, always My Jonathan was kind, loving, patient and giving. He always saw the best in people and never forgot his friends. He got annoyed when people couldn’t work computers, it was all so obvious to him! But that never stopped him explaining time and again how to fix a problem or work a programme. He often fixed computers, partly out of kindness but also because he loved to fix things. He loved puzzles and his favourite console games were the resident evil & final fantasy series. My Jonathan was creative. He loved to cook and was never afraid to experiment. This lead to some amazing meals and one or two less successful, but equally memorable ones as well. His creativity also came through in his love of music. If there was a particular song he liked he had to learn to play it on his guitar. He even tried to teach his friends occasionally. He would play the same song over and over and over AND over until he was sure it was perfect. Then he would play it some more. His friends remember fondly, I’m sure, his rendition of alleluia last Christmas and maybe even his attempts at love machine, which he learnt for his works Christmas night out. He loved to please others and even attempted to learn a song for me, even though he really didn’t like it. And many years ago when I insisted he write me a song he made me create one. He asked for random letters and when I refused he took the first letter from every word I said and played a silly tune from them. My Jonathan was adventurous. He loved to try new things. He even tried rock climbing, despite his dislike of heights, and loved it. He bought me Salsa lessons and took me to them. This gave us a new hobby which we both loved and helped me to come out of my shell. He pushed me to try new foods, new activities and to meet new people, certain that I could be more than I was, and he was right. His adventurous spirit was what enabled him to take on new jobs which eventually lead him to his position and Global Energy where he said everyone knew lots that he didn’t but he was looking forward to learning from them and using his expertise to become their database expert, he’d already written his first report! My Jonathan was never forgot his friends. When I came to visit during my uni years if Istayed for the Sunday night that was fine, I was welcome to come to Plush with him and the guys but he wasn’t missing out whether I went or not. He was willing to move 200 miles away so I could have a chance at a job, but he was going to visit EK often and he was going to drag his friends to Aberdeen. He’d already picked out a go-karting track that he wanted us all to try. My Jonathan never forgot his family. He loved them dearly and often spent time with his little sister Natalie who we both wanted to visit us in Aberdeen. He loved his parents dearly and admired them greatly; I could often see so much of him and the way he dealt with people in them. But that’s their story not mine. Most importantly MY Jonathan wasn’t just my Jonathan, he was OUR Jonathan. He was loving and patient and kind without boundaries. He loved his friends and his family and me. So my Jonathan is our Jonathan and he will be with us always. In our thoughts and in our hearts, may he never truly leave us.
