Jonathan’s position at West Lothian involved a wide range of skills and allowed him to use his problem solving skills as well as his programming ones. Though he did admit to a certain affinity with the T.V. programme the I.T. Crowd, apparently it was very realistic. In between solving council employees I.T. problems Jonathan helped to develop various new systems, further expanding his programming repertoire and also his knowledge of hardware. He put these skills to excellent use by becoming I.T. support and computer builder for numerous friends and family members. His payment was always in beer, food or favours owed, though I am sure he had collected more favours than he ever used!
